Seminar on Creative Accessibility in the Performing Arts

You're warmly invited to the final seminar of DuvTeatern’s project TIKSI – Accessibility as Artistic Inspiration and Strategy: "Creative accessibility in the performing arts"

Date: October 20, 2025

Time: The seminar program runs approximately from 9:30 to 17:00, followed by dinner with opportunities for socialising and networking.

Location: G18 Ball room, Yrjönkatu 18, Helsinki. The Ballroom is wheelchair accessible, and the building has a restroom suitable for manual wheelchairs. More detailed accessibility information will be shared when registration opens.

For: Professionals and students in the performing arts field

Language: The main language of the seminar is spoken English. Finnish Sign Language will also be used in the programme, and interpretation between spoken English and Finnish Sign Language will be provided. We are exploring the possibility of providing interpretation into International Sign Language as well. We will confirm the available interpretation options when registration opens.
We aim to integrate audio description into the programme.

More info: The seminar is free of charge. The program will be published and registration will open Monday 8th of September. We are happy to already share that we will be joined by our dear colleague and mentor Michèle Taylor (UK), Director for Change at the British performing arts project “Ramps on the Moon” – the inspiration for the TIKSI project.

Join us for a day dedicated to exploring three exciting dimensions of creative accessibility on stage: creative audio description, creative sign language accessibility, and easy-to-read communication. Through inspiring interviews, thought-provoking discussions, and examples of how creative accessibility can be put into practice, we’ll discover ways to bring these ideas to life.
